At least 23 rockets were fired on Afghanistan's capital Kabul on Saturday morning within hour of two IED explosions killing at least seven people and wounding another 32, Arian news reported. Casualty figure may increase further, officials suggested. 

Initial reports suggested the rockets were fired from at least two locations using trucks as launcher targetting multiple places in the city. The rockets were fired minutes after two IED explosions reported from Chehen Sutoon and Arzaan Kimat areas of Kabul. 

At least half a dozen areas in different parts of the capital city were hit by the attack, including highly protected Wazir Akbar Khan and Shahr-e-Naw areas. 

No group has yet taken the responsibility for the attack. Within hours, the Taliban, however, denied their involvement in the rocket attacks by putting a tweet from the account of its spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid.  Surprisingly the denial, this time, from the Taliban comes a little faster than some previous attacks which were later attributed to the insurgent group by the security establishment in Kabul. 

Condemning the attack, Dr Abdullah Abdullah, the chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation, said in a tweet, “My heartfelt condolences and prayers are with the victims and their families at this difficult time. Terrorizing and targeting the civilians must stop.”
