In a bid to end the deadlock in the intra-Afghan negotiation in Doha, the Afghan government team is reportedly offering four alternatives to the Taliban, a report in Tolonews mentioned. 

The intra-Afghan dialogue that started in Doha, Qatar two months back faced a deadlock when the contacts groups from two sides failed to agree on a framework required for broader and direct negotiation.

One of the contentious points is the Taliban’s demand to make the US-Taliban deal, signed on 29 February, as the basis for further negotiation - a demand rejected by the Afghan government as they weren’t part of the deal. 

Now a TOLOnews report mentioned the government has offered to accept the US-Taliban deal as a basis for further talk only if the Afghan government also be made a part of that agreement( Doha Deal). 

Another alternative, that the government suggested, is the inclusion of the demands of Loya Jirga (an Afghan grand tribal assembly) in Doha talks.   

Also, the government asks the Taliban to commit themselves to all the international accords signed by the Afghan government and recognized by the United Nations. 

EU’s special representative to Afghanistan, Roland Kobia, also toughened his position on rising violence in Afghanistan. In a tweet, he called for an immediate “ceasefire now, as a part of a process” and “not a process that leads to a ceasefire.”
