At least two police officers of the Afghan National Police (ANP) were killed and four wounded on Saturday morning when a series of explosions rocked capital Kabul in Afghanistan, TOLOnews reported.
Four explosions were reported within three hours from different parts of the city which targeted Afghan security forces. One civilian was also among the wounded.
Kabul police spokesperson Fardaws Faramarz informed two officers died and a civilian wounded in the first explosion in western Kabul. A magnetic IED was attached to the vehicle carrying the officers.
The second explosion was reported from the southern part where two officers wounded when a sticky bomb attached to a vehicle went off. The third explosion occurred in eastern Kabul but no casualty was reported.
Reports also suggested the fourth explosion, but authorities are yet to confirm it.
Following the series of bombings, Afghan First Vice-President Amrullah Saleh warned enemies of Afghanistan, saying “shocking consequences are on their way.” Saleh took charge of the security of Kabul two months back.
The security situation in Kabul is increasingly deteriorating with daily IED attacks and targeted killings. So far, the government has failed to stop such attacks.
In a separate incident in northern Balkh province, a garrison commander of Afghan forces was killed in a roadside IED bombing in Sholgra district, as reported by Reporterly.
Meanwhile, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani asked the security establishment to identify and punish the perpetrators of recent attacks on political and civil societies activists in the country.
