Bagram airbase, the biggest US base in Afghanistan, was attacked on Saturday morning when five rockets hit an airfield inside the base, reported TOLOnews. There is no casualty or damage confirmed in the attack. 

Five rockets hit an airfield of the base in Parwan province, said Wahida Shahkar, the spokesperson to the provincial governor. She further informed that 12 rockets were placed on a mini truck, the insurgents fired five of them while Police managed to defuse the rest seven. 

Officials didn’t provide any details regarding the casualty or damage inside the base but reports indicated, citing sources from both NATO and US officials, there was no casualty or damage to the airfield in the attack. 

The rocket attack is the second in a week’s time, and the third in the last two months. Earlier, unknown insurgents mounted a similar attack on 12 November in the capital, Kabul, killing one civilian. 

In a similar attack last month, on November 21, insurgents fired 14 rockets on different parts of Kabul, killing six people and wounding 25 others. 

So far, no group, including the Taliban, has claimed responsibility for the attack. Under the US-Taliban agreement, the insurgent group has ceased its attacks on foreign troops. Though, the last quarter SIGAR report mentioned there were two instances, since April, where coalition forces were attacked but have not reported any casualty. The details of the attacks remained classified.

Today’s attack, if done by the Taliban, would be a violation of the US-Taliban deal.
