Bangladesh wins UNPSA award for the first time

The cabinet has adopted a resolution congratulating Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as Bangladesh won the prestigious United Nations Public Service Award 2020 (UNPSA 2020) in the category of "Developing Transparent and Accountable Public Institutions".
The felicitation resolution was adopted at a cabinet meeting on June 8, while the Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification to this end on June 15, a handout said on Wednesday.
Bangladesh won the UNPSA 2020 for successfully implementing the e-mutation programme of the land ministry.
On June 1, 2020, UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Liu Zhenmin informed Bangladesh Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Rabab Fatima about winning the UN award.
The UN Under-Secretary-General said the implementation of e-mutation programme is a remarkable achievement for Bangladesh and it will play a significant role in the development of the country's public administration.
Bangladesh, for the first time, received the prestigious UN award.
According to the resolution, the Cabinet believes that the dynamic leadership, wisdom, foresight and effective decisions of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina helped achieve unprecedented successes in the country.
It was possible to achieve this prestigious award due to her visionary initiative towards building a "Digital Bangladesh".
In the last 10 years, radical changes have been brought in the country's land management under the tireless efforts and direct supervision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The e-mutation will play an important role in achieving the Vision 2020 of the present government and building a digital Bangladesh by ensuring transparency and accountability in the land services.
The e-mutation is being implemented all over the country except three hill districts. The a2i project of the ICT Division is providing technical support to this end.
It is being implemented through the assistant commissioner (Land) under the management of the Land Reform Board.
