A high court in Bhutan convicted the country’s home minister Sherub Gyeltsen for claiming false vehicle insurance for his Toyota Prado car. The minister was earlier convicted for the same in a lower court after which he moved to the high court challenging the judgment. 

However, the high court ruled out his argument that the lower erred in applying legal provisions while pronouncing its judgment. The High court sentenced the minister to two months in prison and also asked to reimburse the claim money through the Attorney General’s office. 

Other officials who had helped the minister in seeking the damage were also pronounced guilty.
