The government, though, has not officially revealed at what price it is buying the vaccines, media reports quoted the rate citing their sources.
The Bangladesh government’s Cabinet Committee on Purchase accepted the proposal in a meeting on Thursday. Apart from this, Bangladesh will also locally manufacture Chinese Sinopharm vaccines in the coming days.
Last week, the two countries have signed an agreement for the local manufacturing of vaccines. However, the details of the agreement were not released to the public.
Beijing has significantly increased its vaccine assistance to South Asian countries soon after India dragged its feet after the Covid surge exploded there. Recently, China has announced donating a million vaccines to Nepal. Earlier, it had donated over 1.2 million vaccines to Sri Lanka.
