Over 20 Maldivians travel to India for treatment

Additional patients requiring urgent medical care not available in the Maldives have departed to neighbouring India.

State health insurance company, Aasandha said 50 individuals including 21 patients and their caretakers departed to India on Friday. Out of the 21 patients, 9 will be receving treatment at AIMS Hospital and the remaining 12 patients will recieve tratment at KIMS Hospital.

Although India’s borders are closed, the government of India has facilitated Maldivian patients to travel to India under special arrangements. This is the fourth such batch to travel to India.
