The Maldives’ Health Protection Agency (HPA) has reported 35 confirmed positive cases of the COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases 12,889 in the country, Sun news reported.

The active cases, however, remain 1,119. 28 cases alone came from the greater Male region while 7 cases reported from other atolls, including four from tourist resorts.

Meanwhile, 36 patients made recovery in the last 24 days. Presently 95 patients are admitted to different hospitals across the country.

The numbers come as a relief to the health authorities in the Maldives, as for a long time the country had been recording more than 100 cases daily.

Health Protection Agency also requested people to adhere to safety guidelines to contain the spread of the virus. Since the outbreak of the virus, the Maldives managed to keep the spread of the virus under control through sustained and proactive measures.
