A parliament committee in the Maldives voted to dismiss the Vice Chairman of the Elections Commission Ahmad Khan who is accused of sexually harassing several female employees of the commission.   

The Independent Institutions Committee made the decision this Wednesday, following an inquiry into complaints Akram sexually harassed multiple female employees at EC.

Independent Institutions Committee’s chair, Addu Meedhoo MP Rozaina Adam confirms the decision.

Seven out nine committee members who attended the meeting voted in favour of Akram’s dismissal from the service. Akram also holds the charge of the spokesperson of the Elections Commission.
