Male: The Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih lauded the services of doctors and healthcare workers, and thanked them for their contribution in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.

The President made the remark on the occasion of the World Health Day, which is observed each year on April 7.

“This #WorldHealthDay coincides with the most severe global health crisis of our generation, at a time when the bravery and dedication of our doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals are on full display. I thank them and pray that the world is soon made safe from COVID-19,” the president tweeted.

Health care workers have been working round the clock to help curb the spread of the virus in the Maldives. The government has formed a special task force of health care workers to contain the spread of the virus.
