Nepal: 4400 health practitioners contracted COVID in two months

Around 4400 health workers in Nepal have contracted the coronavirus in the last two months, The Himalayan Times reported citing data released by Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population

Around 4400 health workers in Nepal have contracted the coronavirus in the last two months, The Himalayan Times reported citing data released by Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population. 

The health ministry data indicated that  from 23 September around 4400 heath workers- laboratory technicians, doctors, nurses, and paramedics - were infected with the virus. 

So far seven health workers have died. Kathmandu, with 1696 cases among the health workers, is the most affected district, followed by Lalitpur (500 cases) and Chitwan (394 cases). 

Overall Kathmandu Valley is the worst affected region in the country, contributing around 60 percent of total nationwide infections. 

Nepal has recorded a total of 2,29,343 cases, of which  2,09,493 has already recovered from the virus. The country reported 1,435 deaths.
