The Sustainable Export Promotion Project of Nepali Tea is a project undertaken jointly by Nepal’s Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies and The Nepali Tea and Coffee Development Board to promote the Nepali Tea brand.

It aims to enhance the quality of Nepali tea and enlarge worldwide sales. Under the project, a system will be created to track Nepali tea along the entire supply chain. The traceability system will keep all information related to farmers, operators, processors, transporters, wholesalers, packagers, and retailers.

“The 36 month-long project would cost around $1.5 million and likely to bring benefit to all people engaged in the sector. As the traceability system will be used, this project will do the work of branding by producing quality tea,” Bishnu Kumar Bhattarai, executive director of the Nepal Tea and Coffee Development Board, was quoted by The Kathmandu Post as saying.
