Domestic carriers resumed their operations on Monday, nearly six months after being grounded due to restrictions imposed to contain the spread of COVID-19.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, 31 flights are scheduled for Monday.

Earlier this month, the government had decided to resume the flights from September 17 with the provision that only 50 percent of their seats be occupied. Though domestic operators welcomed the decision of restarting the flights, they had criticised the diktat that half of the seats have to be kept empty.

The operators decided not to fly any scheduled passenger flights until the government rolled back its decision to allow them to fly only with half of the capacity.
