Days after Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli appointed nine ministers in his cabinet, opposition leaders and experts blamed him, saying the caretaker prime minister violated “political morality” in doing so, reported The Himalayan Times

Recalling his time as a caretaker prime minister, Baburam Bhattarai, said he hadn’t appointed new ministers in 2012 when nine of his ministers had resigned while he was the caretaker head of the government to oversaw the election.

“I myself oversaw five-six ministries and assigned other portfolios to other Cabinet ministers. I didn’t expand the Cabinet as that would have violated the political morality,” Bhattarai was quoted as saying by The Himalayan Times.

“The PM lost his executive status the day he dissolved the House of Representative. The tenure of all the members, including the prime minister, ended with the government's decision to dissolve the Lower House,” Chandra Kanta Gyawali, a senior advocate, was quoted by The Himalayan Times.

He also added the job of a caretaker government is just to take care of day to day administration and to assist the election commission to conduct polls. 

After months of wrangling within the ruling Nepal Communist Party, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari dissolved the Lower House on 20 December on the recommendation of Oli led government.
