Bahrain has suspended entry for travelers coming from most of the South Asian countries, as the region grapples with rising Covid-19 cases, reported Colombopage. The ban came into effect from today. Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka have been put under the red list, a top risk category for the Covid risk in Bahrain.

The move came after Bahrain’s National Medical Taskforce for Combatting the Coronavirus (COVID-19) recommended the ban on travelers from these countries due to the high risk of Coronavirus.

However, Bahraini citizens and residency visa holders will not be subjected to the suspension but they will have to present an approved PCR test certificate conducted no more than 48 hours prior to boarding and undertake another PCR test on arrival and on the tenth day of stay.

However, upon their arrival, they will require to quarantine themselves for a period of 10 days either in a hotel or their own residence.

Bahrain has thousands of migrants workers and other professionals from these red list countries. The ban will likely affect the income these countries receive in form of the remittances from these workers.
