Maldives repatriated 200 more Bangladeshi nationals citing lack of documents for some, and others who wished to go back on their own, reported Sun news.

The repatriation was done through a flight of Maldives’ national carrier The Maldivian and it was the 43rd such flight used for the purpose. Till now, the government has repatriated a total of 8,000 Bangladeshi nationals and plans to repatriate 12,000 more nationals. 

The government plans to deport 20,000 people by the end of 2020, informed, the Maldives’ Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail. The Sun News, citing an estimate, reported that the Maldives has  63,000 expatriates living illegally in the country.
