Pakistan and Sri Lanka are exploring ways to enhance bilateral trade under the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries, the High Commission of Pakistan in Colombo said.

Pakistani High Commissioner Major General (Retd) Muhammad Saad Khattak, who called on Sri Lanka’s Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardena, described the meeting as “fruitful”.

“A very fruitful discussion was held to strategize a way forward in streamlining and enhancing bilateral trade under the Pakistan-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement,” the High Commission said.

Both sides agreed on undertaking all possible measures to resolve impediments in a mutually beneficial way to realize the high bilateral trade potential between the two countries, ColomboPage reported.

The Pakistani envoy invited the minister to Pakistan. He said the visit will boost bilateral trade, joint ventures and economic cooperation.
