Crafting a future for India's women entrepreneurs | Reimagining India
Frank & Debbie Islam Management Complex is a unique initiative of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). This project was conceived during the World Alumni Summit of 2008 with an initial investment by Ameer Ahmad, an AMU alumnus from Kerala and A.G. Danish, another alumnus of AMU in Saudi Arabia. The project got a major fillip when Dr. Frank F Islam, a Washington-based alumnus of AMU, and his wife Debbie Driesman, through their Frank Islam and Debbie Driesman Foundation (FIDDF), pledged USD 2 million for the initiative. This enabled the incubation center to bring applique craftswomen to get trained in entrepreneurial skills to help start their small businesses. The Frank and Debbie Islam Incubation Center of Department of Business Administration of AMU is mentoring them by upgrading their skill base and providing them design and marketing support. The Incubation Center has got funding support of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
