Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh is making his debut movie with Sri Lankan actress and television presenter Losliya Mariyanesan. The spin bowler recently shared the teaser of his debut film Friendship, revealing the casting of Losliya, who is from Kilinochchi in Sri Lanka, according to the Newswire.

Harbhajan, better known as Bhajji by his teammates, was chosen to play the main lead role after becoming popular in the state of Tamil Nadu since playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League. He often interacted with Tamil spectators while playing for CSK and apparently was offered the role to portray a college student from Punjab in the film, say local media reports. The Tamil language film is a romantic sports comedy.

Losliya has earlier worked as a model and a news anchor for a private television channel in Sri Lanka.

Losliya is already a household name in South India, especially in Tamil Nadu, after she appeared in the third season of Bigg Boss Tamil last year. The show was hosted by legendary  actor, director, and producer Kamal Haasan.

She was noticed in the show for her spunk. Though Malaysian musician and actor Mugen Rao won the season, Losliya was one of the most talked-about contestants during the course of the show, according to media reports.

Friendship is directed by John Paul Raj and Sham Sundar who earlier made Chennaiyil Oru Naal 2 and Agni Devi. Friendship is jointly produced by JPR and Stalin. The rest of the cast and crew details will be announced soon.

 This is perhaps the first time a high-profile Indian cricketer is set to play the main lead role in an Indian film.
