Bangladesh U19 cricketers return home to hero’s welcome
Bangladesh Sports Minister Zahid Ahsan Russell, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan and other BCB directors received the Under-19 cricket team that landed at the Hazrat Shah Jalal International airport with the country's maiden World Cup trophy, Dhaka Tribune reported.
Dhaka: Bangladesh Sports Minister Zahid Ahsan Russell, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan and other BCB directors received the Under-19 cricket team that landed at the Hazrat Shah Jalal International airport with the country's maiden World Cup trophy, Dhaka Tribune reported.
The team headed straight to the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur for a gala reception after being showered with flowers at the airport, bdnews24 reported.
They are scheduled to address a press conference at Mirpur stadium and thereafter attend a dinner hosted by BCP in their honour.
The team defeated India by three wickets via D/L method in a nerve-wrenching final, interrupted by rain towards the end at Potchefstroom, South Africa.
