The Samagi Jana Balavegaya is not against the appointment of Mohamed Ali Sabry as Justice Minister because he is a Muslim, but because he has defended many cabinet Ministers in court on corruption charges, the party spokesman said.

SJB MP Harin Fernando said that the opposition has no issue with Ali Sabry’s religious beliefs as he said that they believe that every Sri Lankan in the country should be given equal opportunity.

However, he said they have a problem about who Ali Sabry is, as the Justice Minister was the lawyer who represented Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Mahinda Rajapaksa and 14 other current cabinet members who have corruption charges levelled against them.
