Colombo Chief Magistrate Mohamed Mihar Monday ordered the Superintendent of Prisons to immediately hand over the businessman, Fazal Mohamed Nisar, who was remanded on suspicion of making hate speech in a manner that could cause unrest among the community through Facebook, to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

CID officials have filed a motion in court saying that the Defense Secretary has issued a detention order to detain and question the suspect for 90 days following information that a large sum of money had been transferred through his bank accounts in a private bank.

Accordingly, the CID officials requested the court to issue an order to the Superintendent of Prisons to hand over the suspect to their custody.
