Six new cases of the COVID-19 virus have emerged in the Maldives.

This was revealed by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Tuesday morning, via a Twitter post.

As such, HPA revealed that included among the cases are five Maldivians and one Bangladeshi national.

With this development, the total number of cases has risen to 557.

Since the community spread was detection in the Maldives capital Malé City on April 15, several clusters have been emerging out of which a number of foreigners including Bangladeshis, Indians, Pakistani and Nepal nationals have been testing positive for the infection.

The highest number of cases have been recorded from Bangladeshi nationals.
