The Health Protection Agency, HPA on Friday said nine resort workers and six tourists have tested positive for COVID-19 since the Maldives reopened its borders on July 15.

HPA said the positive cases are from seven resorts, although the agency did not reveal the names of the islands.

The first imported case since the border reopening was of a tourist who arrived in the archipelago on July 26. A tourist tested for the virus prior to his departure from the Maldives also tested positive on August 4.
