Male: Dubai-based carrier Emirates announced Monday that it will resume passenger flights to the Maldives from July 16.

In a press release, the airline stated that it will operate five weekly flights between capital Male' and Dubai every Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Customers may book their flights online at www.emirates.com or via travel agents.

The resumption of operations to Maldives will bring Emirates' network to 52 destinations in July, across the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Americas. Emirates is also re-starting passenger flights to Cairo, Egypt and Tunis, Tunisia from July 1, and Glasgow, Scotland from July 15.

The airline noted that comprehensive safety measures are in place to ensure the safety of customers and employees. Under these measures, Emirates will distribute complimentary hygiene kits containing masks, gloves, hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes to all passengers. Emirates further reminded customers that travel restrictions remain in place and that travellers will only be allowed to board if they comply with the eligibility and entry criteria requirements of their destination countries, which can be viewed at the following link: www.emirates.com/wherewefly.

Those travelling to Dubai are required to hold an international health insurance policy covering illness from COVID-19 for the duration of their stay.
