India’s National Award-winning film Chhichhore, which starred late actor Sushant Singh Rajput who had committed suicide, and Shraddha Kapoor in leading roles, is going to be shown in China where Bollywood films enjoy great popularity.
The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, will release in Chinese theatres on January 7 next year, trade analyst Taran Adarsh was quoted as saying by NDTV.
“Chhichhore will open in approximately 11,000 screens in over 100 cities,” a tweet shared by Taran Adarsh on Wednesday said.
Chhichhore, which released in India in September 2019, did very well at the box office.
Chhichhore - meaning immature - is the story of a few college students and how their lives undergo major changes as they move into adulthood. The message of the film is that the journey is more important than the destination and life’s lesson can be learnt more from losing than winning and standing by friends.
Last year, Chhichhore won India’s National Film Award for the Best Feature Film.
Bollywood films have gained wide popularity in China. In the past too, movies like Salman Khan's Sultan, Aamir Khan's Dangal, Thugs Of Hindostan, 3 Idiots and PK and Akshay Kumar's Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Padman made their way to Chinese theatres and TV channels and were well-received, NDTV said.
Other films from India which were released in China in the past few years were Secret Superstar, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Hindi Medium, Andhadhun, Baahubali 2, Kabali and Enthiran (SAM)
