Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will not resign from the post and has decided to face the house of representatives following the Supreme Court decision overturning his December 20 move of dissolving the House. 

"The Prime Minister will face the House of Representatives to implement the verdict but will not tender his resignation as of now,” Surya Thapa, Oli’s press advisor, was quoted as saying by the Himalayan Times. 

Calling the SC verdict “controversial”, Thapa, however, said the government would accept the decision and implement it. The verdict didn’t provide any solution to the political problems of the country, he added. 

On Tuesday evening, the country’s apex court nullified the government last year decision of dissolving the lower house of parliament. In its order, the Supreme Court also asked the government to call a session of the house within thirteen days. Opposition parties and civil societies in the country hailed the Tuesday decision, calling it the victory of democracy and constitution. 

On the other hand, Oli, who had been hoping to end the trouble in his ruling NCP through a general election, was jolted by the Supreme Court decision.
