The US embassy in Kathmandu, in cooperation with the We United Project, launched an initiative - We Coach Nepal- to promote women in leadership roles in Nepali society and communities using sports as a platform.

Under the initiative, volunteers from the We United Project will train 12 women from Dhangadi, Surkhet, and Kathmandu as football coaches. These trained coaches then would form different football teams, engaging over 120 women in the country.

Women in sports accelerate gender equality, and by empowering them in sports, they will get a chance to explore their true potential, said Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy Kathmandu Manuel Micaller.
