The Beauty Of Silence

How blank the mind
Neither thought nor word penetrating enough

How blank the mind
Neither thought nor word penetrating enough
To break through the barriers of darkness,
Like the bleakness of a starless night,

Dull, prosaic,
How un-poetic,
How unlike me.
What ails me today

Why so barren the heart?
Like the shore without a sea
And the forest without trees,
O, how lifeless is life without a vibrant mind

And, a vibrant breeze.
No clouds drifting by
The air stiflingly still,

Quiet descended from heaven,
An unwanted silence,
Waiting, wanting, to be broken
By a knock on the door of a mind

Resolutely fastened, against the fervent desire
To be melodiously lyrical again,
Like a warbling nightingale,
Do they too

Tire of their own enthralling voices
Howsoever beautiful,
I wonder ?

Silence is indeed refreshing, awakening,
But only, only
When wished for,
Else

It is not silence;
For the beauty of silence
Lies in the longing for it.
There is no destination,

If you have no where to go,
There is no smile as honest,
As the one that wishes to be so.
