If I Were God, What Would I Do?
If I were God, what would I do?
If I were God, what would I do?
I’d surely make you, man, anew.
Unhappy I am with what I made,
This creation of you, a masochistic sade.
Little did I ever imagine
You would be at each other’s throats,
Smiling faces, hate within,
Violently rocking each other’s boats.
I thought I made you in my mould,
Where then did I go so horribly wrong?
I see you’ve turned me into gold,
I’m somewhere in your singalong.
The ways of God you have forsaken,
Truth in the tales of a glib tongue
By evil forces overtaken,
Faith on the nearest tree hung.
Wars, destruction and rampant plunder,
You’re hacking at your own feet,
Lightning comes with roaring thunder,
And the devil you will soon meet.
I sent you here with no religion,
With only love and care.
Where did you find such evil poison?
This hatred, this need to tear?
What would I want you to do,
When you’re in distress?
Remember, I am there for you,
In your moments of stress.
Have faith in me for inner peace,
Let love bloom in your heart;
Man is not meant his friend to fleece
And each actor must play his part.
Is it time I sent another saviour –
Goodness to the core?
Hindu, Muslim, Christian alike,
What else would you want more?
