After a series of terrorist attacks by the Tehrik e Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a militant group commonly known as Pakistan Taliban, the Pakistan forces conducted two separate operations, killing four terrorists, including three commanders of the group, in the North Waziristan region.
The intelligence-based operations (IBOs) were conducted on Saturday, the ISPR, the media wing of the military said in a statement on Sunday.
According to a report in the Express Tribune, Abdul Adam Zeb alias Dung (TTP’s Bismillah group), Molvi Mehboob alias Molvi and Mir Salam alias Anas (TTP’s Sajna group) were killed.
The statement released by the ISPR said Zeb was involved in more than 20 terrorist attacks against security forces, government officials, construction workers, and other civilians.
The retaliation came after the group recently conducted many high-profile terrorist attacks, indicating a resurgence in its activities in a long time. Several splitter groups of the TTP had announced their merger, again, posing a challenge for the security establishment of the country.
After the 2014 attack on the Army Public School, the Pakistan Army launched a series of operations in the Waziristan region, dislodging the groups from their safe heavens and severely affecting its capabilities to strike attacks.
