The opposition Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has started putting pressure on Prime Minister Imran Khan as it declared restarting a campaign against the government.

The PDM announced it will start a fresh round of rallies-cum-mass-contact drive from July 4.

PDM President Maulana Fazlur Rehman told a news conference after a summit meeting of the opposition alliance that Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif would contact other parties for a joint stance in the National Assembly on the budget, IBNS said quoting The Express Tribune.

“The PDM has unanimously decided to start holding massive power shows and mass contact drive in the country, with the first such show planned for July 4 in Swat,” Fazl, flanked by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz, told reporters  as quoted by the newspaper.

“The second power show will be held on July 29 in Karachi, while the third show has been planned in Islamabad on August 14,” he said, adding that on August 14, “we will deliberate on issues” of the country, Kashmir and Al Aqsa Mosque.

Meanwhile, PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari slammed PM Imran Khan-led government for agreeing to give military bases to the United States in the country.

The Biden administration is said to be in talks with the government of Prime Minister Imran Khan on the issue of bases on Pakistan soil for the American troops leaving Afghanistan, reports Pajhwok Afghan News.

Addressing a news conference at Wali Bagh in Charsadda district on Sunday, Bhutto believed the US was being given bases inside Pakistan due to the changing situation in neighbouring Afghanistan.

Bhutto averred that the changing situation in Afghanistan should be taken in consultation with all political leaders.(SAM)
