Top commanders of the Pakistan Army on Thursday reviewed the situation along on the Line of Control for the first time since the forces of Pakistan and India last month issued a joint statement, reported The Express Tribune.
“Corps Commander Conference chaired by #COAS held at GHQ. The participants undertook a comprehensive review of global, regional & domestic security environment,” the ISPR, the media wing of the army, said on Thursday.
In the statement, they said commanders expressed confidence in operational preparedness during the recently held exercises.
On the situation along its border with India, the statement reads, “The forum held a detailed discussion on the situation along the eastern border/LoC especially the environment post ceasefire understanding 2021 between the DGMOs [Director Generals of Military Operations].”
The security situation of Pakistan’s tribal areas was also discussed in the review meeting. The areas of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have recently been in headlines for incidents of violence and terrorism by the Pakistan Taliban.
Commanders said these areas need “early induction of civil administration and other law enforcement agencies along with the speedy implementation of development plans.”
The army’s top brass also discussed the internal security scenario, including the Covid-19 pandemic. The army extended its full cooperation to civil administration in controlling the pandemic.
