Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday felicitated Joe Biden for defeating Republican Donald Trump in the United States presidential election, ending a presidency that convulsed American politics, shocked the world and left the US more divided than at any time in decades.

"[I] look forward to President-Elect Biden's Global Summit on Democracy & working with him to end illegal tax havens & stealth of nation's wealth by corrupt ldrs," he wrote on his official Twitter handle, following the announcement by major US network about Biden's success.

The premier also said that Pakistan will also continue to work with the US for peace in Afghanistan and in the region.
