Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan claimed that his government has paid off around $120 million of foreign loans in the last two and half years, reported The News. He also claimed that the country’s economy is stabilizing now.
He said, “When the PTI government came to power, Pakistan had a record deficit which had the greatest impact on the rupee.” Overseas Pakistanis helped to stabilize the country’s currency, he added.
Khan also highlighted the achievements of his government in the economic sector. Exports are rising at a time when economies around the world are facing problems, he said.
The country’s textile sector is also witnessing a boom, he claimed, adding new mills are opening in the country. Calling the overseas Pakistanis “an asset for the country”, he said there is a need to tap their potential to help the country’s economy.
He also hailed the success of The Roshan Digital Accounts- a scheme to help overseas Pakistanis to invest in the country. The transaction amount through these accounts has already crossed the $500 million benchmark.
