At least seven soldiers of the Pakistan Army have been killed on Wednesday in different attacks by militants in its north westerns border. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), an insurgent group commonly known as PAK Taliban, claimed the attacks, the Associated Press said.

The attacks happened in Bajaur, Dir, North Waziristan, and Baluchistan. The ISPR, the media wing of the Pakistan army, confirmed some of the attacks. “A Pakistani unit overseeing fencing installations near the town of Zhob in Balochistan province came under attack, the ISPR said, adding six soldiers were taken to hospitals after they sustained injuries.

The country’s foreign ministry condemned the attacks and claimed that around 20 militants were involved in the attacks. The attacks, the ministry claimed, could affect the ongoing peace efforts in Afghanistan.

The army said that three soldiers were killed when they raided the hideouts of militants in the North Waziristan areas.

Importantly, the attacks marked the stunning revival of the TTP which remained lull for the past few years. Last month, the group targeted the high-profile Serena Hotel in Quetta, the provincial capital of restive Baluchistan province.

The spate of attacks in recent months has caused significant concern among the security establishment in Pakistan, which had earlier dismantled the TTP from its stronghold in North Waziristan at a very high cost in men and material (SAM)
