The Maldives National Defense Forces (MNDF) on Friday morning came to the rescue of the two Sri Lankan fishing boats at sea near the Maldivian coasts, Sun news reported.

The Sri Lankan fishing vessels ran into trouble at sea due to Syclone Burevi and were drifting there. They have lost track due to bad weather. The vessels were spotted by a nearby Maldivian boat, Masoon 7, which reported the presence to Maldivian authorities.

Soon after the tipoff, the Northern Area Squadron of the Maldivian National Defense Forces assisted the Sri Lankan boats. Both the vessels were brought to the Maldives at around 10:45 am.

In a statement, the MNDF said all the eleven men were rescued safely and are now doing well. Now the government said, they are looking into the boats and how they got here.
