A group of fishermen from Tamil Nadu has accused the Sri Lankan navy of attacking them with stones and empty liquor bottles while they were fishing off the Katchatheevu island Monday.

A group of fishermen from Rameswaram were allegedly pelted with stones and empty liquor bottles by the Sri Lankan naval men and one of the fisherman sustained injury on his head, New Indian Express reported citing sources.

President of All Mechanized Boats Association P Jesuraja said nearly 3,000 fishers from Rameswaram had gone for fishing in the early hours on Monday. While fishing near Katchatheevu, fishermen in 50 mechanized boats were attacked by Sri Lankan Navy from 10 patrol vessels, he said.
