As cases continue to rise in Pakistan and Bangladesh, the United Kingdom added Bangladesh, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Keyna to the red list country, meaning only British and Irish nationals living in this country would be allowed to go back to the UK.

From 4 am on Friday 9 April, international visitors who have departed from or transited through this country in the previous 10 days will be refused entry into England. British and Irish nationals with residency rights in the UK will only be allowed in the country.

The decision was taken in line with Britain’s close and strict border policy since the pandemic hit the nation. The UK, which has been aggressively rolling out vaccines across the country, has been maintaining strict border measures.

In the last two days, both Bangladesh and Pakistan have reported more than 5000 cases. The caseload also crippled the health infrastructure in the capitals of both countries.

However, government officials in Pakistan have blamed the UK variant for the third wave of infections that has gripped the country.
