Sri Lanka Friday launched its COVID-19 vaccination drive after receiving 500,000 doses of AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine donated by India yesterday and successfully immunized over 5,000 healthcare and security personnel at the frontline combating the epidemic.
According to the Chief Epidemiologist 5,286 healthcare and security personnel were immunized on the first day of the vaccination drive.
The Chief Epidemiologist said the health staff and other frontline workers in COVID-19 prevention activities attended very enthusiastically for the immunization program and no side effects were reported.
