SRI Lanka reverses arrival ban of passengers

Sri Lanka has revised its decision to ban arrivals of airline passengers with a recent travel history to six Gulf countries for two weeks.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) on June 28 announced passengers with travel history to Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait will not be allowed to enter Sri Lanka from July 1-13.

The CAASL however, has reversed the decision and Wednesday announced that the ban on air travel has been lifted subject to several conditions, ColomboPage reported.

“Following instructions received from the Ministry of Health and the National Operations Centre for Prevention of Covid-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), the passenger restriction on the following 6 Countries (Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait) is revoked with immediate effect on the following conditions,” Director General of the CAASL Capt Themiya Abeywickrama said.

All arriving passengers must have a negative PCR Test obtained from a government-approved facility in the respective country within 96 hours before departure

The passengers are permitted to arrive only for hotel quarantine or through the Sri Lanka Tourism bio bubble route.
