Colombo: All trains except for a few will operate on a regular schedule from Monday (08), Sri Lanka Railways Deputy General Manager (Commercial) VS Polwattage said.

Accordingly, all office trains, long-distance services, night mail trains, intercity express trains, except few intercity express trains including Denuwara Manike from Colombo Fort to Badulla, Air-conditioned intercity express from Mount Lavinia to Kankesanthurai and Pulathisi express from Colombo to Polonnaruwa, will operate as before, the Deputy General Manager of Railways said.

The official said the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Transport Services Management have instructed that passengers should be transported according to the number of seats on the train and no standing passengers should be allowed and therefore, urged the public to use the train only for essential travel.

The Railway Deputy General Manager said that the reservation of seats on trains is also in place and people who come to work in government and private institutions can register through this office.

Mr. Polwattege said changes would be made to the schedule in an attempt to increase the number of train runs for the convenience of passengers and requested the passengers to pay attention to the train schedule.
