It has been reported to the Sri Lankan Embassy that two Sri Lankans have been injured due to the massive explosion that devastated Beirut, Lebanon Tuesday.

Sri Lanka Embassy in Beirut said it is awaiting further information in this regard from the Ministry of Public Health and further developments on the incident will be conveyed upon the receipt of the information.

As a result of the sudden explosion, minor damages have occurred at the premises of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Beirut and in the residences of the Embassy officials. However, the Embassy officials have not sustained any injuries.

Around 25,000 Sri Lankans presently reside in Lebanon and the Sri Lanka Embassy continues to maintain 24-hour hotlines which are open for queries.
