Tuesday in Afghanistan saw a deadly wave of targeted assassinations across the country which resulted in the deaths of two deputy leaders from Kabul and Ghor province, both in IED car bombings, TOLOnews reported.  

The deputy governor of Kabul province and his secretary were killed in a car bomb explosion on Tuesday morning, confirmed the Kabul police, in a statement, as reported by TOLOnews. 

A magnetic IED was attached to his car which exploded around 9:40 this morning, killing deputy governor Mahbubullah Muhibbi, his private secretary. Two of his bodyguards were also wounded in the incident. The blast took place in PD 9 area of the capital city.

Tariq Arian, the spokesperson of the Afghan interior ministry, condemned the killing and called the killing “a war crime” and “inhumane” act. 

In another incident that happened in Ghor province, Abdul Rahman, the deputy head of the provincial council was killed in a magnetic IED bomb blast placed on his car this morning. 
No group, including the Taliban, has claimed the responsibility for the attacks so far.

In a separate incident, a police officer was shot dead and another was wounded in Kabul on Tuesday morning. The incident was confirmed by the Kabul Police which added that an investigation is going on in this regard. 

Targeted assassinations in Afghanistan have increased ever since the Afghan government and the Taliban engaged in intra-Afghan talks in Doha, Qatar.
