An IED explosion on Monday morning targeted an official of the Afghan peace ministry in Kabul, TOLOnews reported. No casualty was reported in the incident.

The armored vehicle of Khushnood Nabizda, the head of the office of the state minister for peace affairs, was hit by the IED explosion at around 7:30 in the morning. The incident happened in Police District 10 of the Afghan capital.

Nabizada is also the founder of Khaama Press, an Afghan news agency. At the time of the incident, he was also accompanied by his two children. Since the last years, targeted assassinations and killings of media personnel, members of civil society have increased.

No group, including the Taliban, claimed responsibility for the attack.

Earlier on Sunday, the International community and diplomatic missions released a joint statement, condemning targeted assassinations and kidnapping in the country. The joint statement blamed the Taliban for these acts.

“The Taliban bears responsibility for the majority of this targeted violence, and its attacks undermine state institutions and contribute to an insecure environment in which terrorist and criminal groups are able to freely operate,” reads the statement.

Furthermore, the international community also asked the Afghan government to properly investigate these cases and bring the persons responsible for the acts to justice.
