The Taliban was involved in various attacks and other violent activities around at least 22 provinces of Afghanistan over the past 24 hours, the Afghan Ministry of Defense is quoted as saying by Tolonews on Tuesday.

Massoud Andarabi, the acting minister of interior affairs, said that the attacks suggest that the Taliban is not using the opportunity given to them by the Afghan people for peace.

“Unfortunately, increased attacks are changing the people’s hopes to disappointment,” said a member of parliament Gul Ahmed Noorzad

Under the US-Taliban deal signed on February 29 of this year, the Taliban pledged to reduce violence and not to attack the provincial capitals, Khalilzad earlier said in an interview with Tolonews.

Khalilzad in a series of tweets on Tuesday evening expressed the deep concern over the high level of violence in the country, also warning the Afghan parties that the window for political settlement won’t stay open forever. Khalilzad’s comment came in the backdrop of rising violence in the country and a deadlock in the Doha peace talks
