At least 12 women were killed and another 9 women and 3 men were injured in a stampede in Afghanistan’s Jalalabad district on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred in the Jalalabad stadium in Nangarhar province where people assembled to seek Pakistan’s visa.
Pakistan’s ambassador to Afghanistan, Mansoor Ahmad Khan, in a statement on Twitter said, “Deeply saddened at the reports of casualties at a stadium in Jalalabad 5km from Pakistani Consulate where visa applicants were being organized by Afghan provincial authorities. We sympathize with the families of victims.”
Eyewitness blamed Pakistan’s officials for negligence which led to the stampede.
