Suicide bombing targets Afghan governor; 8 killed 38 injured

Rahmatullah Yarmal, the governor of Afghan’s Laghman province, on Monday, narrowly escaped a suicide bombing which killed at least eight people, including four of his bodyguards.

The governor’s convoy was targeted when he was travelling from his guest house to his office, said Asadullah Dawlatzai the governor’s spokesperson

Confirming the tragic event, Afghan’s Ministry of Interior said that four of the governor’s bodyguards, another four civilians were also killed in the blast which left at least 38 people wounded. 

So far no group has taken responsibility for the attack.

Last month on 11 September, Afghan first vice president Amrullah Saleh also survived a similar attempt on his life.
