Bangladesh reports three more coronavirus deaths, 58 new cases

Dhaka: The death toll from the coronavirus in Bangladesh has risen to 30 after three more fatalities were reported. Another 58 people tested positive for the virus from 958 samples during this period, taking the tally of infections to 482, according to Health Minister Zahid Malik.

The tally of recovery has also increased to 36 with three more patients returning home.

The minister said it was a “positive sign” that the daily infection rate has slowed.

Meerjady Sabrina Flora, director of the government’s disease control agency IEDCR, said that 40 of the new coronavirus cases are men and 10 women.

Dhaka has once again topped the list of daily infections with 14 cases, followed by Narayanganj where eight more people were infected with the virus.

As much as 22 percent of the known COVID-19 patients in Bangladesh age between 31 and 40. Among the rest, 19 percent are from the 21-30 age group and another 19 percent from 41-50.

Men account for 70 percent of the patients and women 30 percent. Dhaka recorded the highest number of patients at 53 percent of the total.
